The National Road Heritage Corridor's mission is to preserve and protect the Historic National Road in Pennsylvania and to develop the corridor as a tourist destination unto itself through community and economic development. The achievement of this mission would not be possible without the help of many partners along the corridor, in the region and across federal, state and local government. Grassroots in its approach, the National Road Heritage Corridor relies strongly on its "Friends" for help, guidance, input and encouragement. As a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, the organization seeks grants from public and private sources to advance its mission. A state designated heritage area, the National Road Heritage Corridor also provides grants to other non-profit partners in the heritage area for further development of the National Road as a "destination unto itself".

Your donations can make a big difference in the restoration of sites along the Road. Thus far completed projects include: the replacement of historic mile markers; the restoration of the "S"-Bridge in Buffalo Township, Washington County; the rehabilitation of the two remaining Toll Houses (Addison, Somerset County and Searights, Fayette County); and the restoration of the historic Flatiron Building in Brownsville, Fayette County. Soon-to-be erected signage, will provide historical information to visitors at many stops.

Donations will be used to restore and maintain historic sites that have deteriorated over time. Your contribution will add your name to the NRHC mailing list and entitle you to special notices on upcoming events and a copy of the new NRHC newsletter, (the first issue is slated for Spring 2003).
